The GOLFTV Digital Editorial Intern will have copious content opportunities to get involved with, including a focus on our content partnership with Tiger Woods. The intern will help collaborate on a comprehensive content plan should Woods win his record 83rd PGA TOUR victory. The intern will also create player briefs on key international golfers. Our goal is to have a database of every piece of content we've produced for every important golfer worldwide. The languages most used in our team are Java, JavaScript, CSS, Python, Pearl and Bash. As an engineering intern, you’ll work on one of our product teams. Previous interns have started making improvements to our production environments within the first two weeks of joining the team. Ultimately, the projects you’ll work on will depend on your areas of interest. This group has a lot of different opportunities and we try to match our interns with something they are passionate about. Are you interested in automation? We have projects on our DevOps team where you can make complicated manual processes execute reliably at the push of a button. Do you want to write frontend presentation code? My team is responsible for providing services that support content discovery capabilities such as search, recommendations, and personalization as well as more interactive capabilities such as ratings, comments, and favoriting. We support several Direct-to-Consumer products here at Discovery such as Food Network Kitchen, Magnolia, and MotorTrend. We build platform and brand agnostic APIs and services that are used to power direct-to-consumer interactive experiences.   Our team builds the piping that gets the content to the customer experience, we also power many of the features that the customer interacts with in our direct-to-consumer applications such as searching, commenting, and favoriting. We use a wide range of both languages and technologies. For languages, the most common are Typescript, Node, Java, and Python. For technologies we rely heavily on Amazon Web Services their breadth of capabilities especially their serverless offerings. About the projects you’ll work on The best example of the work our team is doing can be seen on the Food Network Kitchen app. We build the APIs that power search, ratings, reviews, recommendations, and a lot more.   As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to help improve our platform by working on new features and making existing features more robust. You’ll get an opportunity to think about scale, resiliency, and how to make your features production ready. You will be working on building backend services and APIs that make it easier for the product teams to access the content and data they need to build the wonderful product experiences Discovery is known for. We try to expose early career engineers to a wide range of projects, to help them get a sense for where their interests lie. We then pair them with a range of senior engineers so that they can learn from a mix of experiences.

The TVE/DTC intern will be given the opportunity to work across multiple brands, learning from each producer and being exposed to many of our networks. From curating content for specific brands for TVE/ATVE to curating cross-network content for DTC, our intern will get hands-on experience with our systems and with merchandising to our respective audiences. The Social Media and Content Intern will assist in sourcing content for social media content for key linear priorities. They will also assist in the scheduling of content on native platforms, as well as our key publishing CMS (Khoros/Spredfast). Intern will be doing research and exploration into TLC's competitors, and making recommendations on possible social experiments and tests. Intern will be expected to have a robust knowledge of CURRENT programming on TLC and will be expected to function with a decent level of technical independence.   The digital and social team manages the social media presence of all shows for TLC, including the reality TV juggernaut that is 90 DAY FIANCE. We showcase network talent and content on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok on a multitude of brand and show accounts. The intern will also aid in photo selection, putting together mailings, copy-editing press releases. They may also have an opportunity to pitch press for local or national coverage for TLC programming, write media alerts and/or press releases and engage with press directly.    The TLC Communications department works to obtain press coverage for TLC programming.
