    What you need to know:

    • This spring, our 12 week semester will be held from January 27th-April 17th 2020.
    • Our internships are paid opportunities. Credit is not required; however, we will provide documentation if necessary.
    • The application deadline is November 15th. After this date, we cannot guarantee your application will be reviewed for the position.
    • We do not require a cover letter. Please demonstrate your passion for the position through your resume.


    Interviewing will take place from September through December. A Discovery Intern team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.


    We are Discovery’s Digital Media department's Experience Management team. We are a small, but highly active software development team, building systems that bring content from iconic television brands to our audiences over the Internet. The work we do directly entertains and excites the curiosity of millions of people around the world.


    As a Web Development Intern, your adventure could lead you to work on projects and tasks such as:

    •Learn how a large complex software system can be built and transformed to provide features for users to accomplish their tasks, managing the content that people can view around the world.

    •You will create new software and add or modify features to make the system easier to use.
    •You will test and debug issues challenging your investigative skills.
    •Your contributions will be used by Discovery’s producers to curate what viewers see on their apps, devices, and TVs


    * Must be currently enrolled as a student (proof of enrollment will be required if selected for an internship)
    * Must be a current Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
    * Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
    * Must have the legal right to work in the United States.

    * Must have computer programming/ software development skills

    * Must have PHP programming language skills

    * Experience with Javascript, PHP, Angular, Python, Jenkins, Sonar, Saucelabs & CI/CD, Github, AWS, JSON, XML


    Please note this position is located in Silver Spring, Maryland. If selected for an opportunity, interns are responsible for securing their own housing.
