  • Position Summary

    Investigation Discovery is seeking a well-organized candidate to perform communications activities for Investigation Discovery programs and talent. The publicist position is responsible for working both collaboratively and independently to develop and execute publicity campaigns (at varying priority levels and via traditional and digital media); writing and developing key communications materials; staffing talent; providing support to the US publicity team based in New York while working with team members in both Silver Spring, MD and New York; and collaborating with various internal divisions, including programming, production, marketing and digital/social media, to implement strategies that ensure consistent messaging and identification of cross-promotional opportunities.


    1. Plan, develop and execute comprehensive, creative and strategic publicity campaigns for assigned projects, working closely with senior director as well as internal teams including marketing, social media, research and online
    2. Pitch and field press inquiries for a variety of events, series, specials and talent
    3. Build and maintain media lists (vertical, traditional and digital) and establish working relationships with key contacts
    4. Plan, write, edit and distribute press releases, materials and press kits
    5. Screen and identify compelling video clips to secure digital coverage
    6. Fulfill media requests and inquiries in a timely manner
    7. Staff and assist with events, talent appearances and interviews as assigned
    8. Fulfill photo requests and staff on-location shoots as needed
    9. Assist publicity team with publicity projects, mailings, press monitoring and reports, press list creation and other responsibilities as assigned by manager


    * 3 or more years hands-on publicity and media relations work experience
    * Solid organizational skills
    * Must be detail oriented, orderly and handle a complex and ever-changing workload in a timely and efficient manner with strong attention to detail
    * Must be an independent thinker, organized, and strong team player with a can-do attitude (no job is too small or too large) who is willing to take on additional responsibilities as necessary
    * A demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and be able and willing to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
    * Superb written, verbal and interpersonal skills
    * Excellent sense of humor
    * Solid project management skills
    * Ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with members of the media
    * Television or entertainment publicity experience a plus
    * Film/TV Festival and Entertainment Conference experience a plus
    * Strong computer and social media skills
    * Legal right to work in the United States
